It's been a few days since John Hughes died. I loved most of his movies. He was pretty profilic movie maker back in the day. He definitely made some teen classics like: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club and Weird Science, but what made him so special is that he really spoke to the generation that grew up in the 80's. Is anyone doing that for this generation right now? I don't think so.
In "Ferris Bueller", when Cameron is in the museum sadly staring deeply at a painting and instrumental version of "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want" by the Smiths is playing, i said to myself this guy knows how I feel. I got home and wrote John Hughes a letter and told me how much his movie spoke to me.
A couple weeks later, I got a signed poster in the mail from John Hughes that said, "Phil, Take the Day Off For Me. -John Hughes". That poster means a lot to me. John, you will be missed.
