Well I went from Culinary heaven to culinary hell in one day, and oh yeah I hate the spring racing carnival. More Cleavage is NOT always good.

Still basically unemployed, got about 7 days of work this month which are going to make the upcoming months a little easier on the bank account

Anyway I went to SOS in Melbourne Central, just to scout out the place before I try dragging a large group of goths and looney theatre people there (because I want to go to good food with good friends its my thing dang it). Fucking excellent gnosh biggrin. Fucking expensive as well, I won't be eating much except rice this week (and possibly next) and it was worth it.

Me raving about food

Had three small scallops, with a celeric puree, peas, broad beans, with shavings of new winter italian white truffles on top for an entree smile, followed up by a main of pan seared snapper fillet (perfectly done), topped with what I think was a horseradish/wasabi roe, surrounded by some volvones (I think that was the name of the shellfish), and zuchinni flowers, with a sweet reduction made from corn and a side of raddiacho, endives and bosc pear slices with slices of really good riccotta, washed down by a glass of french wine. smile smile smile smile smile smile smile.

As per usual with these guys, excellent, knowledgable wait staff that made the whole experience all the better, beautiful decore and ambience, fuck I'm addicted to the way these guys run their restaurants, I spent $76 on lunch (including a piddly $9 tip) add $3.90 for some lix gelati (lemon and passion fruit) to finish off the meal, oink oink squeeeeeellllll smilesmilesmile

Anyway as I was walking down Swanston I realised something. I was really satisfied biggrin. Then I saw the Fei Long Gong members, and suddenly I was in a not so good mood again frown. I respect the idea of minority religions but not one that advocates burning oneself as a protest because after all your mind has the ability to make you immune to it mad and I'm fucking pagan for crying out loud.

Anyway went swing-dancing at speigel (I still suck arse, and I managed to put my foot in it repeatdly unintentionally), had more gelati, this time at the recommendation of the cute girl at the Tutto Benne Gelati place on South bank (lip piercing), and she was right (she recommended praline, mmmmmmmm). smile

Unfortunately ended with the worst most laughable meal I've ever had in a long time at the docklands, Bopha Devi don't ever go there,

three people's meals could be described like the restaurant which was beigest (inoffensively bad), whilst the other was overloaded with tamarind and lemongrass to the point you could actually see the strands of tamarind in the soup, the service was awful (it took half an hour in a restaurant with three waiters, and six tables to get our water refilled, and we couldn't understand our waiter nor could he understand us), the experience made worse by how good everything had been all day

Oh well two bad dots against around the world in 80 meals, but a couple of good ones. Such as busy weekend, I'm actually glad I didn't go out last night. Apparently I'm going to a friends tommorow to do NANO, and I know I'm going out on Monday and Tuesday, I am so fucking bankrupt, but I'm having fun.
