I've been a busy little beaver lately and that is a good thing. Right now I'm in Eugene, Oregon enjoying a little down time. Since I left home I've driven several thousand miles, had a picnic with a Myspace friend, pondered the meaning of Spoon, got a mild case of food poisoning thanks to McDonald's, and trimmed the excess fur off my dog's tail.
I have had a wonderful time over the last few months talking on the phone with my friend Ginny, with whom I had the picnic. We met through the XM radio program Wide Open, which has since changed its name to PowerShift. It's a talk show about Nascar, Indy Car racing, NHRA drag racing and Formula 1. We started talking on the phone a few months ago, and we met in Springfield, Missouri in April and had lunch. Last week, I was driving through Arkansas and I stopped in her hometown of Morrilton, Arkansas. She picked me up at the truckstop conveniently located 2 miles from her house and we drove out to a state park, the name of which escapes me. We had pizza and cheesecake for lunch, to me, a perfect combination, and talked as we took in the scenery next to the Petit Jean river and the lock and dam there.
After lunch she gave me the tour of her house and I met her dogs Bristol and Sonoma. Sonoma is a two month old Cocker Spaniel puppy and is ridiculously cute. I gushed like a girl over her. What can I say? I love doggies.
Ginny is a very special girl and we have a lot in common. I think I could really fall for her if it weren't for the fact that I'm always on the road, I have a place in Orlando near my family, and she lives in Arkansas. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just don't think I could live there. For now, stopping to visit occasionally will have to do. Right now, I need to be single and date a few different people. I've spent nearly my entire adult life married, and I don't want to commit to the first girl that comes along after my second divorce. It wouldn't be a good or fair.
I have been totally honest with Ginny about my situation and she has said that she is cool with it. I hope so.

She sounds like a nice friend, and with her being understanding and cool with how you feel makes her even cooler. Hang on to her, even if she doesn't become something more.
