I'm in Calgary, Alberta tonight and it's sunny and beautiful. I'll be headed back to the United States in the morning with a load of shredded magazines, going to a recycling plant in Oregon City, Oregon. I hate doing my part to save the planet, but I'm getting paid to do it, I was originally supposed to pick up a load of fiberglass insulation in Edmonton. That would have given me another 360 paid miles for the week but what can I do about that? Nuthin! I've never been to Edmonton before and it would have been the farthest North I have ever been on planet Earth.

Coming up to Canada from Minneapolis, I crossed the border into Saskatchewan from Portal, ND. I guess it was my lucky day, because Canadian Customs decided it was my turn to get a full inspection of my trailer, my truck, and my personal belongings including the content of this very laptop upon which I blog. As Mr. All Canadian boy, customs agent extrodinaire exited the cab of my truck, he asked me if I had any porn on my computer. I answered honestly: "Of course," I said. Well, I'm a shutterbug and I have around 6000 pictures stored on this sumbitch, almost none of it porn. It took the agent over an hour to get my computer back to me. Basically he gave up looking. I was feeling a little flustered having lost another two hours of my life at the border with all the inspections and what not. But, I left without being an ass, like I wanted to be and drove off towards my destination. This was my first time in Saskatchewan, and wow! Really not very interesting! The scenery was fairly dull but the people were nice. There was one area along the Trans Canada Highway with this huge salt piles and these weird looking salt ponds. That was cool. I spent the night in Medicine Hat, Alberta last night. I love that name. One big thing that I've noticed about Canada is that the truck stops are a lot smaller and a lot of the parking lots aren't paved. It's kinda 50/50 on asphalt lots up here. Another weird thing, Canadian drivers are way thinner than us fat Americans. It's damn embarrassing. I was fueling my rig at the Road King here in Calgary (paved lot) and another driver from my company pulled up in the diesel lane next to mine. Out lurched a man of at least 400 lbs. Oh dear gods, the Canadians must just laugh their thinner asses off at us. One good thing about that guy, he was 3 inches shorter than me and made me look malnourished.

Peace.

Travis and I used to sleep in Medicine Hat on our way out to Lethbridge on his sunflower seed runs. smile Good memories. I love the giant teepee.

Saskatchewan is kinda boring, but the landscape is so beautiful towards the west with the small rolling hills... it really lets you appreciate the sky.
