So my dad is still in the burn center. They decided to hold him another night for observation. Most of the damage is in the nose. Only exterior damage is around nostrils and upper lip.
So after talking to my dad last night i found out what happened. He was in the garage using they grinder when a stray spark went up his nose. Well he is on 24hr oxygen for COPD. The oxygen Fueled a fire in his nose. He said it took a moment or two to realize what happening. He got the O2 line off and ran into the house to the sink for water. It took a while for him to notice the pain, but once it hit it was bad. He decided to call 911.
I did not know any of this was going on. At the same time i was on my way home from work. Close to home i see an engine running code but didn't think to much of it until it started to turn towards my neighborhood. Of course with my dads history of heart attacks the thought crossed my mind it was headed to my house, but quickly dismissed that idea. Once it started to get even closer to home i checked my phone to see if he had tried calling, another reaction to his history. No missed calls. But the engine was taking every turn that i soon would be making until it stopped in front of my house. There was my dad sitting in the driveway against the garage door. I don't think I've ever parked and got out of my truck so fast. Ive never seen him like that. Shaking, scared and embarrassed. Best way to describe his face was he looked like he had just been beaten and bruised. He was taking to the burn center for care. Later i got to see him and spent most of the night with him. Once i could see he was stable we joked. I told him he ruined my plans for the night, since i was headed to a movie later that night. When he asked if i had eaten i said no, that someone had not bothered to have anything for me when i got home.
When i know more i will pass along the info.
