Work tonight at the gay bar went smoothely enough. The married dudes from Florida came in a second week in a row. They were headed to the leather and sodomy festival that is Southern Decadence. Of course since there is no New Orleans right now there is no Decadence (at least the kind involving bearded men in chaps).

Still no word from my parents. I think they are probably okay as they are reasonably well armed and surrounded by German Shepards. Hopefully they will have sense enough to repair bonds with my Grandmother and head to Northern Louisiana.

People keep asking me what I think caused the situation to be so bad in New Orleans. I'm no expert, but I am from there. I lay the blame squarely on the Klu Klux Klan during the post Civil War era and the Socialist policies of Huey P. Long and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The Klan made it impossible for blacks to gain independance and self reliance in the late 1800's. That terror coupled with a bi-monthly check program has lead the locals to become completely dependant on the State. And if there is one thing I can say, it is that those who depend on the Government will always be dissapointed.
Look at my school situation. I recceive a Government Pell grant and assistance on tuition because I am low income. This helps me out enormously. However, every year I save enough of my tips to be able to pay out of pocket if I have to. When I don't have to pay, I save the money. This came in handy last month when I had to have my gums rebuilt from donor tissue. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

Anyway, I turn 27 on Tuesday. I'm getting long winded in my ols age.
