Know anyone that loves their pet(s) a little TOO much? I'm not talking about bestiality, but this neurotic, over-the-top infatuation with a pet that a lot of people have. Where the pet becomes a surrogate child or lover...

Call me harsh or insensitive, but these fucking people are broken and need to wake the fuck up.

I have nothing against animals, or pets. I've been around them frequently as I've walked this earth. But people who love animals more than their friends, their family... even their lovers... this to me is fucked up.

The thing these people say that makes me seethe is "Why do I need friends/family/a lover, I have my pet! People are mean/rude/hateful/sick/etc. I hate people!"

OK. Yes, people can be loathesome. But... so many people can be beautiful. Inspirational. One cool person can make up for a legion of assholes. And, by isolating yourself from the rest of humanity, by living in fantasyland with your mute, furry, lacking opposable thumb friends, you diminish... you become less of a human yourself.

You become what you claim to hate. And you wonder why the rest of us stare... why we don't relate... why we don't like you.

We aren't pets. We aren't your tribe, your pack.

Wake up, get a spine, and face the world. Some of us will welcome you with open arms. Bring the pets too... just remember, people make good pets as well.
