So been back at Waterstone's a week and it already feels like way longer. I haven't started clock-watching just yet but it's all coming back to me quite quickly (I know I was only away 5 months but I'm forgetful!) so it shall probably start soon. It only took me 3 days to decide I wanted to do a themed bin on alternate reality fiction. It seems I've read quite a few dystopian themed books since I've been away, cheery soul that I am! I've got to come up with 15 in all and I'm trying to come up with some that will appeal to a wider audience in a Dan Brown kind of way. I'm not doing so well on that side of things, I've got Philip Pullman's 'Northern Lights' and that's about it!

Anyway, enough about work. I got to see Hot Hot Heat on Thursday thanks to Iannnnn (thank you!). I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I got see them finally. There was a good mixture of songs from both albums plus some new ones that were sounding good. I got home just a little easier and with no exciting episodes unlike Iannnnn. There were a couple of dozing off episodes but I didn't miss my stop so it's all good.

That really is about as exciting as my week has been, minus a bbq last Sunday I've been spending time with the family and being skint. I'm hoping Waterstone's won't screw up paying me weekly as I have a couple of trips up to London planned, and some boots I've had my eye on! It's given me time to catch up on reading though. Finished 'Norwegian Wood' - Murakami, 'Brave New World' - Huxley and 'Of Love and Other Demons' - Garcia Marquez. Not sure what to read next although I've got plenty to choose from, Iit will probably be 'My Name is Red' - Pamuk, 'Divided Kingdom' - Thomson or another Garcia Marquez. Decision, decisions.

My plans to get a job in the charity sector have slowed down now that I've got work but I am still making moves to that area. I've got in contact with my local Amnesty International group and plan to attend meetings and I'm also going to attend their conference up in London at the end of the month. Meanwhile I'm taking time to really get to grips with a lot of the issues and what action can and is being taken. I'm also trying to make more ethical choices as a consumer, kind of ironic I know after all the flying I've done. Still, if I hadn't have travelled I may not have come to the decision that I want to change my ways, I may have become a teacher instead! surreal

Thank you very much! How about 'Man in the High Castle' by Philip K. Dick for your alternate reality-themed bin? It's one of my favourites.

Good luck with Amnesty International!
