my little hamster died last night. i found him today...bloated, with blood around his mouth, and a stench i can't seem to get out of my nose. he was just a small guy. his name was tuxy, on account of his black fur and white tummy. he was 2 years old...

Rodents in general are pretty succeptable to respiratory illnesses, more so when they are captive/ caged. From what you described, it sounds similar to a lot of animals I have seen and kept that died due to to what you could call kennel cough for rodents, or possibly pneumonia and pulmanary edema. It sucks, but it is unfortunately common frown
