As some of you may know or may have guessed from my set Paint or Pleasure? I enjoy painting! Yes, that set was real, I did paint those walls, it was the guest bedroom in my home! Which is why it meant so much to me that it is the set that turned me pink! Hehe
I have been painting for years, for as long as I can remember really. I helped my mom paint my bedroom when I was maybe 8 years old. Have worked on many projects since then from walls, to furniture to cabinets. I’ve refurbished many furniture pieces in my home and have painted many walls & full rooms in my home and others. I’ve always done it for free for friends and family as it’s something I simply enjoy doing!
This past year, however, I took the dive to become completely self employed and start a business that focused on my art in all expressive forms. Modeling, painting, crafting. I’ve gotten paid for all of the things I love to do creatively except painting in someone’s home. This week I was hired for a small project to paint someone’s kitchen cabinets to prepare for new renters coming in. As they saw me working they asked if I could add on two sets of bathroom cabinets as well. No problem! Nothing exciting, flashy or uniquely creative by any means, but! Excited to say that I had been hired for my first paid painting gig that turned into another paid project as well. They even liked my work so much they paid me extra! No complaints there and always appreciate the positive feedback. (: Nothing quite like hearing someone is impressed with your work and it is excellent! Woohoo!
I hope in the future to of course be hired on to do more exciting and artistically inclined work where I can work with fun colors, abstract designs, lines and geometric shapes.. the fun stuff! In the mean time I’ll never be disappointed with the opportunity for paid work doing something I really enjoy! It even boosted me up a bit to get back to some of my own projects and some furniture pieces I’d like to have fun with and sell to add something different to someone else’s home. A nice accent or conversation piece if you will. 😜
Was nice to get back to something I took an unnecessary & unexpected halt from and realize how much I enjoy it, be reminded of what I’m capable of and reassured my work is good enough. Looking forward to what will come from this fire being lit under my ass! Time to get workin’ !
