This update was not brought to you by the Cherry Robot but in-fact the real deal with a frustrated heart and a creatively disrupted mind.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently scanned in some of my hand-printed black and white film prints for... something. So, because I can't use my laptop and it's slowly destroying me I thought I would post one of the pieces for you to see.

It was originally intended to be displayed on a large white wall in the following formation:

The actual prints also have some other words underneath the main photos but unfortunately the scanner I've used isn't big enough to fit it all in. I'll post these words under the images as they were intended to be.

The words under the photos are a quote from Girlfriend in a Coma by Douglas Coupland.

(No plagiarism here, thanks).

Every cell in our body explodes with the Truth.

We'll be begging passers by to see the need to question

and question and question and never stop questioning

until the world stops spinning.

We'll be adults who smash the tired, exhausted system.

We'll crawl and chew and dig our way into a radical new world.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd been reluctant to show this series to anyone for a long time due to some severe criticism and comments like "I don't get it" when I first printed this up (which, for those interested was some time around October 2003).

I decided it was about time I got over these kinds of insecurities and mumbled a quiet Fuck You. So here you have it.

I'm afraid that the quality of the scanning isn't the best and these prints are much better seen in person. For those of you in the digital world this will have to do.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been trying to decide whether I should explain my motives behind the series and what little "meaning" there is behind the photos.

I've decided that perhaps I will let you wrestle with your own interpretations.

I will tell you that it's all about the art of questioning.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last week or so I've been toying with the idea that it might be time that I taught myself how to draw again. It's been around 8 or 9 years since I actually drew anything seriously (except for some of my tattoos). While I never used to be amazing I could draw somewhat successfully when I was a teenager.

This was something I sketched when I was about 14 or 15:

It might not be perfect but at least it's a start. Right now I don't even know where I would begin to draw a portrait, not even to redraw that one.

So, while I've been desperately waiting for news on my laptop, browsing digital illustration books and feeling creatively frustrated I've thought that maybe I should pick up a real life pencil again and get back to basics.

If anyone knows of any good online drawing tutorials please let me know as I can't afford to invest in these kind books right now.

I have been stupidly browsing books on Amazon anyway and I've come across far too many things to lust after.

I love the photos in this entry. I'm interpreting it in relation to nudity in art and those that don't understand it. It bothers me when people call suicide girls porn, because being free to express female sexuality and our own lovely bodies is not porn. I may be off base with that interpretation, but it makes me glad. You have wide range of talent, congratulations. : )
