Update once again brought by the Cherry Robot.
What's this?? Two updates in a weekend! It's nice being a robot sometimes...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, all in all I photographed 14 sets in just over two days. I also had some pretty bad food poisoning for a good proportion of this weekend. That's the last time I eat an egg sandwich from Edinburgh airport. It's not easy trying to pretend you're not sick and motivate girls to get naked and look beautiful, you know.
Mind you, it was easy with these beautiful Dutch girls. They are all wonderful!
And you know what touches my heart even on top of their wonderful smiles and three kisses on the cheeks? ...the tiny gifts they brought me! They have kind and generous hearts to go with their stunning looks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which brings me to another point...
For those of you that thought I was complaining in my last entry and stating that I thought working in a boring office or at Starbucks would be better than getting to travel over the UK and Europe to live my dream of being a photographer... well, of course that isn't what I was saying at all!
I know just what it's like to work in a boring office for horrible people. Few of you probably know but I used to work for Britain's biggest supplier of natural gas and electricity (British Gas). I worked for them for a good couple of years and was even a manager by the time I left. So I know what it is like to work in hell, and I would never want to go back there, believe me.
I was only stating that sometimes my job is kind of stressful, rushed and incredibly tiring. For example; yesterday I worked for twelve solid hours with only one 30 minute break. Now, I'm not complaining but it is exhausting and kind of stressful. Especially when I'm sick! Also, my camera is kind of heavy after that many hours!
Anyway, the point is. I was thinking that it might be easier to take a job in a coffee shop but that the easy option is rarely the best choice.
I really do love my job as an SG photographer and the opportunities it has provided me and the simply amazing and wonderful women I have met over the time is mind blowing. And, yes, I am living my dream which is more than a lot of people get. But, remember, not all dreams are faultless.
Enough ranting (-; Perhaps I shouldn't be open about my frustrations? But, everyone has frustrations at times with anything they are doing. I've simply just been a little stressed and worn out lately. You know I love these women and my job! You should read my March 23rd update for evidence of how much I value my job!<3
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I now have 32 sets waiting that need to be photoshopped and prepped. I am going to be one efficient photo-prepping photographer; just you watch.
Then I have some trips around the UK to make. Namely, Bristol, London and Brighton. Anyone looking for shoots in those areas let me know!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Incase you missed my last journal entry:
I always knew that Nick Cave should write a "western".
I went to see The Proposition last week. As soon as I read that he wrote it I almost peed my pants and it was more than mind blowing. You see, I've always thought that a good number of the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds albums played out like a western.
Now, while The Proposition isn't technically a traditional western as it's set in Australia, it might as well be. I don't want to go into too much detail because if you watch it (and I implore you to) then I don't want to spoil it. Let me just put it this way: the writing, the acting, the direction and the soundtrack is out of this world. It's everything you could want in a dirty, flithy, hellish desert film. It's downright offensive and beautiful all in the same breath. Just like Nick Cave himself. Perfection.
