My new years was fun, we had company in from out of town and we partied like parents till two am. At 12 our neighborhood erupted in fire works which of course prompted my wife and my boys wife to join in. The wife had a stash from a couple years ago that she wanted to get rid of. All that was left was the big obnoxious stuff, fountains and fifty rockets at a time. The fuses were old and the girls were toasted so they lit them off under the tree in the back yard and then we watched and listened as they shot upwards into the tree and then came raining back down on their heads. God loves a drunk and no one was hurt so it was High-larious.
I have spent the last week cleaning my kitchen at work. They have been running with such a skeleton crew (I have one full time employee)for the last few years that the only time any deep cleaning gets done is the two weeks they are closed in January. I have taken everything off of every shelf and washed it and the shelf. The trustees managed to dick around so long deciding what to do about the F'd freezer that instead of getting it replaced during this down time now they want to do it in march after I have already started getting busy. They ordered it three days ago. I do not relish the thought of having all my frozen stuff outside in a trailer for however long it takes them to replace it. The place I worked had four chefs in the two years before I took over. I can see why. One good thing is that I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff I had no idea how old it was and rearrange everything so that it works better for me and hopefully everyone else as well.
Anyway, I should get on with my day. Have fun.
EDIT: So I woke up in kind of a shit mood. It was my dad's birthday he would have been 59. Last year in his memory I went to the bar he liked and had a Guinness and a Braunschwagger sandwich since that is what we used to do. This year I went to Chinese Buffet with my mom. My dad was also a fan of the chinese buffet, no Guinness this time though. Dad's birthday is also what reminds me of my wife and mothers birthday on the 12th. I got the wife two David Sedaris books The newer one with the squirrel and the one with the smoking skull on the cover. I assume that is the one about when he quit smoking. She thinks that one might help her in her quest to quit smoking so I am all for that. I was forbidden to buy her my usual glorious assortment of candies that I usually got her on special occasions as she is quitting candy to lose weight. I don't do candy but she is a fiend for the sugar. I need to change the cd in my car two weeks of drinking song is getting to me. It is a good mix with honky tonk, hip hop, and a couple Irish tunes thrown in.
gotta love it
one for the old man
one for the fat boy
my favorite toast ever:
