It is a Christmas miracle, this week I only work two days. That just doesn't happen to me, woohoo!
My youngest bro and bro in-law both got in last night. Bro in-law is staying with us for a couple of days which is great except that he brought his cat. I thought that the reason people got cats is that you could just leave them at home when you go and as long as you leave food and water they take care of themselves. I cannot imagine any hell worse than driving from Florida to Kansas with a cat in a car. When we moved to New Mexico with my wife's cat she made some cat noise every thirty seconds for thirteen hours. It was the first real test of our wedded bliss.
The girls have managed to lose both of the house phones and it keeps ringing but I can't get it. What is funny about that is that it is the NRA calling constantly. I am not a member but I did get my FOID card last year after my dad died so that I could legally inherit one of his guns (my great grandfathers single shot ten gauge). For a Quaker my dad owned a lot of guns and I always told him I wanted a shot gun so that I could clean it when the girls started dating. I had a girl friend whose dad showed me his gun and I always got her home on time and not "with child" so I figure it should work for me. The NRA has gotten my number from FOID I'm sure and they want me to join and give them money. It's just not gonna happen. I like guns but those guys are crazy.
The Christmas cooking season has begun in earnest now. I am two batches of chex mix in and last night I made bro in-law his requested chix fried steak with mashed potatoes and pan gravy. Bombsy. Now that my little bro is in town I am sure we will make something awesome tonight as well. We always have a feast of Alvis when he is around and he has been asking a lot of Indian food questions lately so I am excited to teach him some of that. I learned a lot about Indian cooking over the years but no one I know is really interested in cooking it but me and actual people from India. It is definitely a cuisine for a culture that has stay at home moms and grand parents because it is a pretty prep intensive and a lot of things need hours to cook. It will be fun to pass a little of that on to him. I can't wait to smoke a couple ducks. That is one of the wife and I's traditions that I always make sure happens.
I should get off here and start doing some of the things I need to do. Peace out and have fun.
