I guess I should write a blog that doesn't say I'm out of town. My trip and catering went fine. It was the best it had gone in spite of it being a bit of a bummer without my dad there. No one talked shit and everything worked out fine. The wife was a big help this year now that the kids are both able and willing to be away from her more she was able to do a lot more. It was fun to spend that much time together and to work together. A kitchen is the only place in the world where the wife will defer to my knowledge and/or take my advice. Any other place she is always right and unquestionable. We had a good time and I think we could work together running a place some day.

Going back to work has been a little rough. This week we are super busy and I was gone last week so I am not as prepared as I want to be. Tomorrow we could have 200+ people ordering off a nine choice "limited" menu. I did not write the menu and it is all prep intensive stuff and things that take a while to cook but you can't really cook ahead of time. I will be cranking all day and it will probably still be a cluster fuck. They are all supposed to have reservations, we have 15 reservations on the books. That means they will all show up at six unannounced and sit in tables of 15-20. I am going to be so bent over. All I can do is be ready to get smacked and try to ride it out. The guys that I have hired in the last few weeks rock so with all hands on deck we should stand a fighting chance. I might have the dream where the micros printer keeps shooting tickets until it fills the trash can and just keep cooking and cooking. I had that dream a lot when I cooked breakfast because I was the only one there for three hours in the morning and I was forever getting screwed.

Enough bitching. I have the house to my self and I should find something to listen to loudly. Have fun.
