you know, back when i had insurance and i was going to physical therapy, they were gonna use an ultrasound on me because they thought it might release some of the tension or something. that would have been cool.

but then i stopped having insurance, so now i will NEVER KNOW.

Okay, I promised a photo-review of the art I saw at the Arlington Arts Center a few weeks back. The first stuff is by Marja Ponkka-Carpenter. She played with texture and color, OBVIOUSLY; each frame had the same spiky-type surface, with only the frame size, height of some spikes, and color differentiating the concepts/ objects pictured. The spikes looked like they were stiff cloth material,...

"Glorious shitty-disposable-camera-rama color." You are funny.
And now I have to find National Lampoon's Doon.
It seems to make sense that Herbert had the polygraph and would use it on his kids -- I think I had heard that before. But after reading his son's Dune precursors, I don't think I have the stomach to try to sit through the book he wrote about his dad. Junior is that bad of a writer.
I've been really tempted to write really mean-spirited reviews on Amazon.com about those books, but... I just keep thinking "that poor guy." And I wonder, is it possible that his editors allowed the books to be published in such poor shape because they were thinking the same thing? Plenty of other readers have given the books scathing reviews on Amazon, I don't need to add my venom.
Anyway, again, Snow Crash was rockin.
I look forward to the CDs! Thanks again for that, you're too cool.

It was weird when I noticed I was down to ten friends... the rest just left or got zotted or whatever and suddenly I'm face to face with it. I'm really past the point of caring about SG as a social tool. I kinda realized it's not 'my scene' when I read about the Silkworm drummer dying in a car crash somewhere else, wondered why it hadn't been on the SG newswire, found the story on SG (under a completely useless headline) and found the entire thread to be about the woman in the other car, hardly even a word about the loss of three lives except how it proved she was evil or crazy or whatever.
woodstock:
You are coming to visit!!!!! WOOOO!!!! Then you are moving!!!! To this portland or the one in Maine? This is such good news! biggrin

"J + J + J at the Galaxy Hut"
(poem by MySpace user "Ianisradical"; I believe he's the young lad in the striped shirt)

You see what I mean? Johnny is so exciting
serenading us while Joanna lays the notes down.
The beat machine proceeds like lightning;
J Plus J Plus J in my hometown.

What can J three be? Interesting indeed,
a wonderful story...

? & the Mysterians / The Facts of Life

GOOD NEWS!

It has lonnng bothered me that "96 Tears," the classic hit single by ? & the Mysterians, is not in print. If you are young or somewhat out of the loop, this was one of the biggest singles of 1966, instantly recognizable by the cheesiest, plinkiest organ riff in history, whose aesthetics Stephen...

Yeah it's no good getting all bent out of shape when someone doesn't answer a comment... that's easy for me to say though. It would take a long time for me to really stop taking it so personally.

I'm still nervous about my job... I still feel like I'm not catching on. Hopefully I'll get there with time.

See my next journal entry for a sampling of my favorite books, I forget if I told you those but I listed a couple others. Your recommendations are good... maybe I should be looking more for "neo-classics" though, because the older stuff doesn't strike me as light/medium reading. I should check out those classics anyway though.

There's a question for you in my latest journal.

Don't worry about Tetris... I mean if you want you can open the page and leave it open for a while to let it load. Or something. But no big deal if it doesn't work for you or takes too long.

I went up to punkrockjuliette's place overnight! These are the things I think are amazingly cool: her, her man, that area of NY, her workplace (well, seemed cool the hour I was there), drinkin and smokin and chili and chips and stuff watching football at the PRJ place!! Terrible Towels were waved. Official Terrible Towels.
I don't wanna say WHERE she is- as that's...

I'd been feeling very tense lately, about possibly moving in general and quitting my job in particular. I was feeling these uncertainty jitters. This evening, when I got home from work, I realized- this is the last Monday I'll ever work there, and I felt a jolt of instant calm. It's sorta like a jolt of lightning, but the exact opposite. Anti-panic. I know that...

Maybe I shouldn't leave SG. Now I'm feeling like I don't want to, after feeling like I should for a couple weeks. On the one hand, I dislike my friends getting kicked off, and I don't much partake in the commercial side of the site (official sets [except for when someone like Siv or Bambi comes along]; merch; interviews); on the other hand, I don't...

Yes don't go! We all love you! I think you're a huge asset to this site.

Did you ever see this? It assuaged some of my fears and answered some of my questions. I mean, it doesn't bring back people who've been kicked, but maybe you'll find the info helpful in terms of your attitude towards the site. That is, if you buy into what they're saying.
