Okay, I wrote yesterday about free music video tapes for me... now I am writing about free music video tapes for you.

Yes, what you just read is not a typo... or maybe it is. I'm a litle drunk right now.* I decided to bring home some of the other music VHS tapes, that I passed on, to see if anyone wanted any of them.
The tapes are:

REM - Tourfilm
Radiohead - Seven Television Commercials
Morrissey - Hulmerist
Morrissey - Live in Dallas
The Sex Pistols - Rock and Roll Swindle

Very simple; if you know me, or if you send me your postal address, any or all of the above are yours. It's on a... a-first come... a-first serve basis, as Run would say.
Now, I've just gotten home from work, started writing to folks, and drinking bourbon instead of eating dinner (so I'm pretty numb), so obviously I have NOT had time to check the tapes for defects... but I will, and let any takers know if I see any on test-viewings of any of these tapes.

....I dunno who still uses VHS or not, anyway... I do...

I was reading a Yahoo news article this morning that P Diddy's publisher was suing for breach of contract. Apparently, P. Diddy took $300,000 to write an autobio... but did not. The publisher and him have come to an agreement.
This does not surprise me. What did surprise me was a side-note on other musicians who have re-neged on writing autobios... one of whom was Mick Jagger. He took cash in the late '90s to write an autobio, but then cancelled, saying, (and I quote the article) "he could not remember anything of significance." (<--- I had to write that down verbatim)
WOW. I mean, WWWOOOOOWWWW. "Nothing of significance"??? In... what?... 40 years fronting the Stones. NOTHING?????? WOW. That was my first reaction.
My second was - hmmm... maybe fronting the Rolling Stones for 40 years is boring. Maybe it's just a blur of TV studio performance, live show, live show, fucking groupies, drugs, live show, live show, fucking groupies, drugs.... and so on. Maybe, in fact, Mick did us a favor, by saving us from a long, drawn out book that (ahem, Bill Clinton) would tell us nothing of substance at the end of the day. After all, what can you say in a book about, well, playing a show? Or fucking a groupie? "It was quite an enjoyable experience." Or, "Well, the shows in Perth Amboy in '68 and the groupies in Tallahassee in '79 were great, but the show in Harrisburg in '73 sucked, and the groupies in Sheboygan in '78 were not adept at sex." So maybe he did us a favor... or better yet, maybe he realized he couldn't top Bill Wyman's book, published in recent years. (In case you don't know, Wyman was one of the most hearty, dedicated archivists of his own band in rock history, loading his account of the Stones's history, Rolling with the Stones like a one-man Beatles Anthology on crack... not to mention he'd already written Stone Alone and prob did less drugs than Mick.) Maybe it's good to have one less celeb autobio... even if (especially if?) it's by a rake of titanic historic proportions.

* I was not in a stellar mood this afternoon. I feel pretty damned good now. Score 1 for substance-abuse.

er:
i had to read mysteries of pittsburgh in college for an english class, believe it or not, and i fucking hated it. i don't remember anything about it now, except that i was glad when we were done with it.

we also read keri hulme's "the bone people" which i loved, so the class wasn't a total wash.
