VIDEOS and 5 MORE PICS
So I was gonna write about the CDs Ive been buying but first, Id like to mention the 5 video tapes I just got for free from work. Someone brought in a bunch of VHS tapes and many of them were music ones. The ones I took home were: The Cure, Show; The Cure, Staring at the Sea; David Bowie, The Serious Moonlight Tour; some thing called Punk that lists a bunch of videos (a couple Jam, a crapload of Buzzcocks, some Stranglers, etc.); a comp of Liquid Television cartoons (I trust youre all old enough to remember that show, at least!!)
Now, Ive owned the CD of Staring at the Sea forever. Id never really seen any Cure videos except Lets Go to Bed. That one was one of the bunch that my sister taped for us @1983, 84 back before cable TV was around many neighborhoods, and ours didnt have it, my sis would just tape 4, 6 hours of MTV at a time at a friends house and this is back when you could do that sort of thing, just leave a tape on a video station. Now, I saw a lil VH1 Classic last year, and that was pretty similar but really, you could just leave a tape on MTV pre-84 and just catch a million great, wacky (mostly new wave) videos by bands you never saw before and would never see again.
I havent gotten to the shocking thing about the Staring video comp tape. Well, there are a couple shocks. Firstly, Robert and someone else compiled a bunch of home movies around the videos. The first thing you see is Roberts band (apparently; the video is murky, and he has hair over his face and you cant hear the vocals) playing in some town park gazebo. From the look of peoples hair/ clothes, it is 1977 or so. The funny thing is- they sound like a stoner-rock band. Very metal/ punk and messy. But this is the big shock I hadnt seen Robert pre-Pornography-era in my life. If I had, it was glancing at Ten Imaginary Years you remember? That was their tenth anniversary book, which meant I saw it in bookstores about 15 years ago anyway, Ive always been used to make-up/crazyhair Robert. So Im watching Boys Dont Cry and Robert has an odd haircut, but not too weird and I notice he looks kinda like this guy I know named James, this friend-of-friend Ive seen around since junior high. Then A Forest comes on and... What the hell? Robert has short, normal hair and looks like that guy James and. it cant be it is he looks like BEN AFFLECK, too!! So then Play for Today comes on and its uncanny, he just looks like Ben Affleck, not even like this guy James anymore. Wow. So after that, he starts growing the weird-bush hair and in Primary the band are finally smearing on lots of make-up.
But I dont think Ill get over the fact that Robert Smith looks like Ben Affleck under all that hair and stuff.
Now here are 5 more pics; the cat pic was shot by Antimony, so Ill add that since she Went Crazy-Ass Live today:

Eagles of Death Metal: Just heard them today, totally thought of you. If you haven't picked this up, you really should.
And no, you're not crazy - we have similar facial shapes, long noses. Actually we also have similar, um, chest shapes, come to think of it. Though she's completely gorgeous.
