Wow, I had a great time last night, seeing Karmella's Game for the fourth time. And guess who I ran into? BillHaverchuck, ex-SGer. I guess he too had loved the band from previous Rockbot shows. I have to tell you though- the Velvet Lounge crowd has generally been pretty sedate; "politely swinging," yes. The Warehouse Next Door crowd was pretty crazy. BH says, "That's because the Velvet Lounge is 21-and-over." Huh, I guess so. Makes one feel embarassed to be older!! Also, it was "costume night"... I have ambivalence about costumes. I think they are great... worn by other people. I haven't made the effort in ages. I thought about dressing up like a Karmella's Game member; they usually wear red private school clothes. It turned out some other guy did do so, but the band themselves were in costume so were not in regular costume. Singer KTO was the first person I saw from the band, and she was dressed like what I thought was a giant smile-face.... it was only when the other members were onstage, all dressed like ghosts, that I realized she was Ms. Pac Man! At the end of the set, someone yelled, "I want to make you Mrs. Pac Man!!!!" to which KTO said, "....nnn, I dunno, that's a little creepy!"
