bunch of assorted minor Comments & observations today:
the website of the New York Review of Books has 3 articles up from the new issue that are worth reading, concerning 1) why the Democrats have lost elections recently (and it's not specifically religion and national defense), 2) Salvador Dali (nothing really new, but a good lil bit on him), 3) the death penalty (via the views/ work of Sister Helen Prejean of the Dead Man Walking thing).
re: Velvet Revolver-- If you have all the GnR albums and STP albums you want/ need, there's no reason to get or hear this.
I returned it to Shirlington Library and picked up Son House, Memphis Minnie, Bessie Smith, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. I have Smith on right now.
re: new Oasis-- I was in a bike store with Eric last weekend and they were playing it in the store. Heard 3 or 4 songs. Sounds like very rote stuff, nothing new/ vital once again, although that was a quick listen... but I'm sure I'm right.
I owe bankerboy and tattoosandwhores some stuff via mail. Did I send you Norton Poetry already, t&w? I forget.
Today went very easily and low-key. Surprised it's already the weekend.
I might want to move to Richmond. After thinking about a city to move to because chosen city is "cool," I've been thinking maybe the fact that I know 10 or 12 folks in Richmond is a better reason to move there... at least for a while. I was telling liz_marie this, and Trysty. Tryst thinks I should move somewhere cooler that Richmond, but I dunno. I totally, totally sugk alien rhinoceros ass at meeting new people in some conventional method like bars or whatever. And I like the people I already know a lot...
quizzz question- What is behind you now?
