I'd like to ask a bunch of questions (people like the bunches of questions)... I mostly wanna move on from last Journal because things are fine now. It was my friend's birthday yesterday. I got him some Barnes & Noble credit and we played pool. Crisis over!
In the background, my stereo is playing a tape I just got from a friend of mine, a collection of Moog synthesizer "classics." Currently on is a version of "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" (aka the bluegrass song from Bonnie & Clyde) on ancient analog synths. The tape also had a synth cover of "Theme from Midnight Cowboy," the third good version I'd heard of it (Toots Maytal; Faith No More). So my question for today is-
What song do you know/ like the most versions of? And I don't mean like you'd politely tolerate, or rudely intolerate, but you actively like the most versions of that you know.
I think for me it'd have to be "Roll Over, Beethoven"- Chuck Berry; The Sonics; The Beatles; Mountain. Then I just remembered this second there was that goofy ELO cover of it. I can't say for sure whether I'd like that one, but I like the other four. Chuck Berry is the King of Rock and Roll. The Sonics version rocks, although I don't think Gerry Rosalie (I hope I don't have to tell you he's their lead singer, jeez) sings it. George Harrison sings the Beatles one, which is good for me since I think John's voice is kinda shrill on the old-school Beatles rave-ups (although perversely I do like "Well Well Well" and "Mother" and other "primal scream" solo stuff by John). Mountain's is a tacky, tasteless, Blues Hammer bashing of the song in a early-70s-metal way, so I like it.

Glad to hear you'll be watching the Carnivale....though I do recommend watching the first season before the second starts. It could thoroughly confuse you. If you've got HBO and or HBO2 they've been replaying them at different times...so you could probably catch most of them that way...if not....you could always go out and buy the boxset that just came out yesterday. But it is pretty pricey. We have it at $99.99 though BestBeast-I mean-BestBuy has it for $79.99. And holy shit...I just checked, Target has it for $74.99, and Walmart for $69.88!!!!!!!!!
