The people at the party were funn folks. So why did I feel bummed later on? Ahh well, I dunno if I have a formal social anxiety, or if I just have a hard time relaxing at parties in which people I don't know outnumber people I do by more than 12 to 1, or I I felt lame because I hadn't really done anything lately other than work (and my job dissatisfaction is approaching record levels) so as to feel lame in having anything to discuss at a party.

Must be some combination of the above. On the plus side, I met lots of nice folks... who probably think I'm a reclusive, socially inept freak. The answer to that, of course, is- "Sometimes."

I think part of life is accepting that some days you're going to feel like shitcrappoo and just do the best you can with those days, such as mail out CDs to klaire, 730A_trixel_fem, get your car lubed, buy groceries, or read a book in the 33 1/3 series... perhaps the one about Let It Be.

I'm certain this is an exagerrated story, if not outright apocryphal (and I'd read earlier on in the book that the "bad blood" at the filming sessions of Let It Be was way overrated, according to the crew working on it), but it is funny anyway. It involves Michael Lindsay-Hogg, director of the Let it Be film, and Peter Brown, who was a manager for the band from Brian Epstein's office:

On July 20th, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. It was on that day, according to Lindsay-Hogg, that all four Beatles were first shown a rough cut of the film, which was longer than the final cut by about 30 to 40 minutes. The next day, Lindsay-Hogg received a phone call from Peter Brown. Brown said, "I think we could lose about a half hour of the picture, especially the bits with John and Yoko." Lindsay-Hogg replied, "Gee, I think that's really interesting stuff, seeing John and Yoko and how they got on." Brown responded, "Let me put it this way- I've had three phone calls this morning. I think we should lose the stuff with John and Yoko."

afternoon PS- If your name is klaire, 730A_trixel_fem, or BrookeLynne, there's a very good chance I just mailed you music stuff. Also, Ms. tattoosandwhores, I found a special postcard that I got in NC that I forgot to send you. I could mail it along this week, if you want (I have no addy); I hope to deliver some CDs in person. kiss

You are not a "reclusive, socially inept freak" by any stretch of the imagination. I'm no good at parties either. It's all bullshit anyway.

funny story smile

hey I'm supposed to be a social butterfly, and I feel the same things at parties where I don't know anyone, especially now that I do things sober. It's easy to be friendly when you're drunk or stoned I've found. :/ So buck up little camper. Stop being so damned rough on yourself. We all feel these things.

I await the package with great anticipation. Thank you. smile robot kiss
