CHAPTER THE SIXTEENTH : In which Lord Cheechingham posits an edict to his magnanimous court about MUSIC SWAPs and shit
Sooo, cessation of Big Blank Screen? I suppose so. It might be seen as some sort of "depression" sign by someone. Of course, I am... and am not. It depends not what day, or what time of day, but what nanosecond of the day you catch me.
Besides, I had massive butterloads of funn with NoControl, infornography, Isadora, and even the DCQ herself over the weekend... saw my college roomie Mike... IMed the great Estrada and JamieLee... what the fugk could be depressing about that?
Well, maybe the real-live, real problems some of my SG Friends have had lately. "Friends" plural; lot of bad crap, can think of at least... god, seven people offhand dealing with serious crap.
But hey, ummm, I now have Cherry's address, so CD and cassette swapping-necessity has kicked into a new overdrive of urgency. I have to start setting dates for this stuff or it won't get done!! I have in front of me here the List O' Intimidation... a list I've had sitting on my desk of people I've merely discussed swapping music with on a preliminary level. It is intimidating due to it's HUGEness! Even counting couples as "one person" (which I can't do for Les/Mikael anymore, sicne I've been slow as shit and missed the recent window o' opportunity (yes, everything is Irish today), although I guess with CDs people can burn them and forward them.
One of my biggest probs with cassette logistics is the multi-generational mixing. I have a lot of cool stuff on tape which is- tape of tapes of source material, things I've compiled from tapes from my record-reviewer friends... hence, if I copy a master compiled from them for you SGers it'll be a tape of tape of tape of tape of source material. Not optimal.
I'm thinking of making CDs for most everyone... maybe tapes for the severe tapeheads on my list... right now, that would be Cherry and mtlqueen... I mean, c'mon, mtlqueen started a THREWAD for me, for god's sake! My dream had been to send everyone 4 or 5 CDs.... HAH! Uh, my list of folks stands at 16 and counting. I mean, I didn't even have klaire on this list, or Lex, Olsen, or leeh.... I'm probably pushing the quarter-century mark in the most minor further solicitation of more folks! Postal costs and blank CDs/tapes make this project... prob in the $100 range, but the more serious question is 1) where do I find the time? 2) will my PC burner hold up? 3) xeroxing/cutting out artwork for 'em all... uh, guess that goes under #1, since I can xerox at work (I don't have a printer here).
What I'm trying to say is-- anyone wanna swap/receive some tunes?
My short-list (of 16) is: mtlqueen/clovesbud, dharmabox, NoControl, Les, Mikael (Les/Mikael?), BrookeLynne, WhiskeyFightPit, Estrada, ebin, LilMisSMorbiD, coldengine/JuneC, Cherry, Tryst (hey, I gave her one already, so I'm uhh not that far behind
), Franchise, 730A_Trix, infornography/Isadora, and I had TulipBooty as tentative but uhh haven't heard from the Booty in a while.
I'm so dead... I actually have some days off this month, so if I can manage to stay off SG for a few mornings and afternoons I might get most of it done by... end of the month??

ps - I think the last Journal was more compelling than this one, but hey, tell me how else I could logistically get started on all this.

I've got a home deck burner at work that can copy regular cds. I can't make any mixes other than on MD. I need to invest in a new cassette deck...Do you know how much they run?
