Hershey Park is a decent amusement park. The rides are good; we got there late to go on all of them, and some were closed at the time, but in the Halloween-fest format the park charges no admission and a wristband for unlimited rides was $19.
One disappointment-- I assumed that, it being right by the factory and that they might want you to help you splurge, that the candy would be cheap (like 7-ounce bars for a buck or something) and I'd be able to get, say, a Reese's t-shirt (although the brown/silver Hershey Bar shirt is classier, there's something alluring about those garish-ass orange/ yellow ones) for $10. Nope. They charge pretty conventional prices, which kinda defeats the purpose of buying 'em there rather than, say, a Walmart or Rite Aid. Nobody wants to give you a real deal anymore to encourage business.
Also, when you arrive in the parking lot, if you think "it smells like chocolate throughout Hershey".... well, by the entrance, it smelled like stables and horeshit. Dunno if there was actual livestock around or if it was just fertilizer...

ps - I'm disappointed to see Hel gone. Didn't get superclose to her, but she was one of the more interesting SGs. A consistent wit, and damned gorgeous in an inimitable way, obviously.

Remind me never to go there for the first time.
It's kinda the same with the Jelly Belly factory. Everything is the same price as anywhere else - the only advantages are that ALL their products are in one place, and they're all ultra-fresh.
