"Neil Young doesn't have the capability to argue the international war on terror."
--Bill O'Reilly, on radio last week, when a show-caller complained the CSNY concert he went to was too political.

"Politicians and their apologists in the media often patronize musicians and other artists. We are supposedly naive and don't understand the cruel and cold realities of the world. Then again, we are not the ones who have provoked or underwritten countless military confrontations and hypocritically promoted global instability through fear, in the guise of defending freedom, justice, and corporate profit. The only difference in those they oppose being a willingness to glory in a relationship with evil that goes undisguised."
-- Elvis Costello, liner notes to the Goodbye, Cruel World 2004 reissue.

Been a full couple of weeks since the last update. Have had some good, way-too-short times with friends and lover, some crazy shit like Virus From Hell last Monday (at midnight, no less) and getting locked out of my apartment ($125 locksmith).
I saw Rory Stewart give a book-talk, the guy who I've gushed about in this Journal weeks back due to his incredibly-interesting-sounding book about hiking across Afghanistan in 2001-2002... well, he also served as a diplomat in Iraq in 2003-2004. It was a fascinating evening, one which I maybe should've discussed in here, and maybe still will (from my ever-fading memory), but... I dunno, I have middle-east-conflict-fatigue. What about you all? Probably. Let's uhh not discuss Iraq today.
I went to the Zine Symposium in Portland a couple days this weekend. Great stuff, picked up some artwork n a couple zines. I'll be writing more about that as I read/ digest websites. I can't believe it was FREE to attend. I picked up a neat shirt n poster and was overall excited to be back in the world of zines, which I guess I've mostly neglected since the 1990s days of Factsheet Five.
Lastly, I heard streaming audio of jonnytrrrash7's radio show... at work! Sundays should be more funn in the "office" now.

PS- the page here said I had a private message in my box, but nothing was there. I know this happened to rollerdisco once, too.... so if you messaged me on SG in the last 30 hours, I didn't get it- resend. Sorry.
