Wait... I'm... I'm online. This can't be. Didn't the computer know that it was supposed to keep me offline forever?

It put in a noble effort, for sure. My C: drive crashing the day my modem arrived was a fantastic strategy on it's part... but I'm afraid Mikael helped me all day (when he had better things to do, I'm sure) and I had $60 to blow on another hard drive, and so now, yes, I am actually online. After only 10 days, or 9, depending on how you count it.

(I know what you're thinking- wireless? No, DSL. The wireless didn't work in my apartment due to being on the top floor in an old building. That was the reason for the first few days's delay; getting someone to come here from Zig Zag Wireless to look at my computer for an hour before announcing, "Uh, it's not going to work." Waiting for the DSL modem to arrive UPS, that was the last few days's wait.... and it only costs me an extra $15 a month more, plus $30 for the modem, plus the new hard drive. Hey, it's not like I'm unemployed... oh fuck, that's right- never mind.)
