She makes fairly uncontemporary-sounding indie rock, she is an architectural artist for a living (the band's album covers are drawn by her), she is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, keys, trumpet, drums), generally looks black and white even in real life, looks like a boy, and is the woman in the music industry I'm most like to get wonky with.

Originally a fellow Floridian of Exene's who migrated to LA at the same time and a reputed participant in amazing scenes of rock & roll debauchery at Joan Jett's notorious apartment on San Vincente, a block away from The Whiskey.

"Your My Best Friend" has been featured in the Simpsons and in a Yahoo! commercial recently. I'm always like "Hey ::tug on sleeve:: that's Queen! That's Queen!"
Given that they were only moderately popular in America and insane-o superstars everywhere else in the world (and pretty much musical gods in Britain) I'm always happy when they get some play over here.
John Deacon was a way overlooked member of Queen, but I guess he got as much notice as he cared to get. He never persued a solo career (beyond a single project with The Immortals) and never did interviews (less so than the rest of the band did, who tried to avoid interviews themselves) and what he's up to now, who knows. I heard he still does some spot work with the remaining members of Queen whenever they get together.
