My Journals lately haven't been very interactive, so I provide you questions to answer:
1. Do you have albums where you like every song but one?
2. I forget the other one I was going to ask. I had two questions this afternoon, damn it. Let's see. Favorite color... no. If you were a tree... no. I dunno, and I want to watch Rollergirls soon, so answer question #1.(Okay, apparently I'm stupid because Rollergirls has always come on Monday nights, and I thought it was always on Tuesday nights.)
In my case, it is The Cure's Pornography, dubbed The Most Depressing Long-Player of the Decade by Spin once. At the time, I was tending to agree... but in retrospect, its relentless furious depression seems kinda funn compared to the more measured, real depression of Urban Hymns or the bleakness of The Wall... not that Robert Smith wasn't really depressed at the time. I remember that Spin article included a quote from Tolhurst or Gallup or someone saying, "You'd knock on Robert's door each morning not knowing if anyone would answer."
....anyway, I really like all the album, except for "One Hundred Years," the opening song, funnily enough. Very melodically weak in contrast to the rest.
I was reminded of all this by watching the video of Staring at the Sea... and goddamn it, Robert DOES look like Ben Affleck in the video for "Play for Today"! I am not kidding here! It's disturbing. Wearing heavy makeup is increasingly looking like a good decision for the lad.
fwiw, Worst Song On London Calling came up on the Boards months ago, and my vote goes to "Four Horsemen." It is somewhat the only song on the album I dislike, although I'm a bit over "Lost in the Supermarket," really.
Yeah, I still feel kinda crummy. Still dunno if it's bronchitis again.

Ok-first things first-Rollergirls is just all around quality entertainment-do not miss it again-by far the most compelling thing on television. Second, There are a bunch of albums through the years that have those misfit songs that just seem welded onto it to fill out the running time-I just can't lay a finger on specifics this right now-though I can give an extreme example (no control will kill me on this) I tend to only listen to the songs in which Lisa gerard sings for Dead Can Dance-she gives me the shivers and he tends to make me want to fall into a bathtub of narcotics. Of course-it is no suprise that both you and NC are fans of Lair of the White Worm...one of my all t ime favorites
