First up: nice to see TheDishwasher and Drago last night in Bal'mr. Funn seing you two again, and Dish's friends, but I couldn't get into that Sonar DJ's music. :^/
This restaurant is along the way to the Arlington Arts Center, and it reminds me of Geraldine all the time:
The Arts Center's Tiffany Gallery has this great stained-glass wall. I covered the camera-flash to get a more natural light:
This room's artwork is usually mehh, but here's one I think is okay, "Sculpture at The Great Wall, China" by Shirley Koller. I like it because of the 3D effect; the metal "sculptures" in the foreground are actual little metal sculptures:
(btw, ALL of these paintings/ works have straight edges; my disposable camera tended to give all frames a curved/ bowed effect that isn't there in real life.)
This is "Narrator" by Richard Dana. Those pieces on the floor are charcoal, the scroll from the picture to the floor looked paper-like, and the picture was done in charcoal, naturally. I included 2 detail shots:
The largest collection at AAC now, upstairs in the Wyatt Gallery, is Monica Stroik's paintings. They're abstracts; not much literal object-representation, with great color (which a camera can only approximate... or ruin, unfortunately. I've tried my best to color-balance "in the mix").
This is "Oxygen"; it's actually only one foot wide, but I took the pic close-up. The flash kinda fucks-up the overall color-balance:
This is "Infraction II," which is 7 feet across; I included a detail of one side of it:
