Last night was a long night of stress at the bar. Busy nights when it's cold or raining are the worst. Everybody really wants to get into the bar and out of the cold, but then everybody bitches that there are too many people inside. When I do form lines and make people wait, it's just a bitchfest as people repeatedly try to barge the door, completely oblivious to the line. Boneheads.
Afterhours, I went outside to clear the crowd that was still standing around on out side walk. First I find some guy standing there with a pint in his hand. I take that away from him and pour it out. Then I look over and his buddy has a full pitcher. I yank that out of his hand and chuck the contents into the street before he can to anything about it. I accidentally splashed some on somebodies leg, oops.
Then the guys who had the beer decide to get tough. To make things worse, some guy declares that he has my back. Now the beer guys are even more raring to fight. I just yelled at everone to go home, collected the containers and went back around to the back door.
Ahh, the life of the doorman. Not really glamourous at all. Sometimes I think it helps that I'm not a bouncer. I'm not a huge guy that looks like I can beat you up. I'm just a well-dressed guy who does his best to command respect and regulate. I guess I do a fairly good job of that.
