On Wednesday afternoon I went to the Festival of Trees.
It was really nice.
After that, I walked through CNN Center, but I was too late for the tour. Again.
They had a nice tree there, too.
I decided to play geek and pose in front of a Robin & Company cutout.
Then it was on to Philips Arena and a stop for sustenance.

OK Go opened the show and did a really good set. They really rocked on the last 3 songs, including Here It Goes Again. After they finished their set, they said they had time to fuck around. So, as their equipment was being taken down, they did a choreographed bit similar to, but sillier than the treadmill bit in their video.

Plain White T's came in on one day's notice to fill the vacancy left by the Killers. They put on a surprisingly good set considering the circumstances. I hadn't really heard them before and will probably give them a listen.
I wasn't sure what to think of AFI. I wasn't fond of what I had seen in a few videos. The all-white equipment :drums, monitors, amps, guitars, mic stands, etc. and dry ice didn't make me feel much better. I was really surprised by how good they were. Very energetic, they gave it their all. They appeared to be the crowd favorites also. Davey Havoc asked how many had and hadn't seen the band before. It was a pretty even mix. He said, "Fuck me, thanks for checking us out." About a quarter of the crowd left after their set. I'll probaly give them a listen, too.
And then Jet came along and turned the damn thing into a rock n roll show.
I really enjoyed seeing them a couple of years ago, but I believe this performance topped that one. Quite a bit of audience singing along, some prompted some not. Nic Cester went out into the crowd 3 times. Once in the pit and later down either side balancing on the dasher boards (wall around the hockey rink, about maybe 5 inches wide) while still playing. For some reason he kept repeating, "We're the rock n roll band Jet from Melbourne Australia, are you with me?" Oh, they said on the radio today that he was drunk on red wine when he went on.
