Before last night's Thrashers-Flyers game, the Thrashers honored Lt. Col. Allan Jarvis, a Marine doctor who has served in Iraq. The Thrashers had sent him a Thrashers flag in response to an email. He carried the flag with him during a 7 month stint. He and his flag got a standing ovation before the game. He presented the flag to GM Don Waddell and Ilya Kovalchuk. It will be framed and displayed at Philips Arena.
Another serviceman returning from Iraq was supposedly playing one of the games during a break in the action, when he suddenly dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. I'm sure you can guess the answer.
The Thrashers came out flat and lost 4-2. Most of the excitement came from 2 Flyers fans getting ejected late in the game.
V for Vendetta is a really interesting movie. Scary because you can imagine a future like that. It's one you'd probably have to see more than once, because there's so much going on in the background. I've never read the graphic novel. I'm not sure if reading it beforehand would have changed my impression. I think everyone should see it!
