I wonder if it's weird to randomly contact an ex-lover. Not out of desperation, or because you want to see who won the break-up, or split, or whatever it's called (see never really dated them, just went out for coffee or lunch and we slept together, with no dialogue following, friends with benefits minus the friendship), but to see how they've been doing. Is it possible not to come off like you have an agenda or something to gain, but as a simple, "I hope they're doing fine." Maybe I'm too much of a people person to follow normal societal standards, but I can't be the only person who's done this. I would ask some of my friends but we're a band of misfits. Not a lot in common but we've been through so much that it's hard to think of life without them. Each would give an interesting a completely different opinion, ultimately coming down to no agreement. But I detract.

I genuinely hope they're doing well, regardless of the response I might or might not get. And if they're life is in a pit, that they manage to climb out and begin to enjoy life again. I guess that's where I differ from some people, I just can't hate people (oh I sound so repetitive!). I don't like some of them, nor care to be around others, but the people who I've parted with for one reason or another, I always wish the best.

I also found this on my cell phone when looking doing some work on it.

Coasting on tarmac, my sight falters
all around I see blue and bleak
a city dying, an environment
thriving.
my despair becomes crystallized
I long for a place larger than I
all that's left here is
decay-dance.

it has no author, and I cannot find it online anywhere, but I don't remember writing it, yet it echoes my perspective beautifully, so it's possible I did. Plenty of times I've woken up with no clear recollection of my night before.

Hope your week goes well, and life blesses you!

Jeremiah
