I have today off! Unfortunately, I have to run around getting parts for my ailing auto.
I love having days off, but I really do like my job selling books. It's fun to help people find the right book with an answer to some problem they have. I really enjoy helping kids hunt down sources for some research project they are doing. I guess that's the old teacher in me.
I've done a lot of things in my day. I've been a teacher, foreman, programmer, information systems manager, plus lots of other odd jobs, and I find this is the least stressful job I've ever had--except for the rotten schedule.
One of the most fun things I do is work at the Michigan Renaissance Festival during August and September. Roughly speaking, I work security, and get to strut around with a rapier on my hip. Actually, it's hard work, and I sweat my behind off. As a first responder, I chase bad guys, find lost kids, help save lives (mostly heat prostration), and run errands. Rarely is there a dull moment.
I'd better get a move on and rustle up some breakfast.

I've had many varied jobs in my *ahem* 10 or so years of work history. Tax Office Customer Service in accounts, Stevedore (oh what fun)
Well, I hope you enjoy your time off, even it is being monopolised by your sick automobile.
Take care
