Halloween went pretty well. About 100 kids showed up at the door threatening mayhem if I didn't fork over the loot. It was a typical Halloween night, with the little ones stumbling through the rain and darkness all decked out in cute, soggy costumes. My porch was decorated with pumpkins and flashing lights to warn the little beggars off, but they came anyway.
In the mall, ours was the only store to hand out candy and treats last Saturday. It's amazing how patient those little kids were with those weird costumes. They looked like tiny dolls, and they went about their business as if they weren't dressed up like little lunatics.
I have to get the Christmas presents for my daughter's family around for shipment to Australia. Expensive business it is to ship things to Australia. People say, why not send them money and let them get what they want over there. Ah! But that's not the same. Who remembers what they got with the fifty bucks Aunt Rhynilda gave them ten years ago? No one, I'll warrant! But that hideous green thinga-ma-bob (an antique found in a dumpster is your best guess) which Uncle Gundar gave you twenty years ago--that you remember--no doubt about it! So I'll pack my thirty dollars worth of rare treasures in a box and send them off to Oz for about $150.00 postage.
