So I've been considering it for a while, but I finally caved and I'm working on breaking my system back into eating meat. I don't have any major qualms with a vegetarian diet, but when I'm out somewhere with really good food I don't want to have to be like "oh shit, can't eat any of this" all the time because it has meat in it. So far, actually, there's only one place I really would eat meat right now, and that's the deli I used to work at because their food's fucking awesome. It's annoying, though, because some people I know are getting all snippy with me about it. I really just want to yell at them: "News flash, any moral argument for vegetarian/veganism is bullshit, and unless you're a lazy ass you can be healthy and eat meat too. I started being vegetarian for reasons now null and void (don't ask), and I only remained so out of habit. You had no complaints about me before, and the only thing that's changed is my diet, so shut the hell up you pretentious ass. It's not like I'm forcing you to eat meat now too." People piss me off sometimes.

Speaking of the deli I used to work at, I'm probably going to be going back there soon. I'm trying to see if any of the other places I've applied will call me back, but come Friday I'm just going to swallow my pride and try to go back. Hell, when I went in to get some delicious murder-on-a-sub-roll (yes, I did just say that), two of my ex-co-workers were practically begging for me to come back. It was kind of sad, they had four people working on a Saturday. Only once or twice in my entire time there did I ever work a Saturday night shift with more than two other people, and I worked Saturday night shifts every fucking week, basically.

In other news, Stephen King is officially an asshole. Good writer, but still an asshole. Why? I've been eyeing a copy of the Stand for a while now. It's a nice big hardcover copy. Only reason I didn't get it a long time ago was because it was $50 and I'm hesitant about plunking down that much money for just a quick sci-fi read (although quick is relative given the massiveness of this book). Now, for a book it's size and all other production considerations, $50 might not actually be too unreasonable a price to ask. At least that's what I thought until I saw a similar copy of it at Borders today, just with a different cover and without Stephen Kings "signature" (a printed on fake on the cover) on it going for $20 right next to the copy I'd been eyeing. Normally I'd just get the $20 version and be done with it, but a) that really pissed me off because it was essentially the same product, he just got greedy with one version, and b) the cover of the cheaper one was ugly as sin and it hurt to look at it. Fortunately this is Borders and they use their own little barcode labels instead of the ones on the books themselves, making price changing possible. So I got the copy I wanted for a fair price and threw away the other barcode label instead of switching it to help out the next guy who takes interest in the book. Illegal, maybe, but so is fucking extortion.

Holy shit that turned out long...
