Note to anyone who could use this information: when trying to cut something with a knife, if you're going to use your free hand to put pressure on the top of the blade (unsharpened side), either wipe the sweat off of your hands or be more careful than I was. My hand slipped and I accidentally raked my palm against the tip of the blade. I actually wasn't sure if I pierced the skin at first, because it didn't start bleeding until a minute or so after the fact. So now the palm of my left hand is perforated. Lovely. Fortunately it didn't get cut too deep although it's almost 2/3rds the distance across my palm. Oh well, nothing a bandage, some duct tape and a glove couldn't fix.

Today seemed to be a "people cutting themselves" day at work. At least I wasn't the one who cut about a half inch of one of his fingers off on the slicer. While it sucks for him, it also kinda was his own dumbass' fault... one of the first things you learn when you get taught how to use the slicer is to close the blade before you put your hands near it, and he went to clean the blade and just stuck his finger right in, basically. He gets my sympathy, mostly because they didn't use an anesthetic when they cauterized the wound at the hospital, but he gets a Darwin award to go with it.

So yes... the moral of this story: Don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen.

Ouch! Hope your hand gets better. Reminds me of using an x-acto blade in graphic design... flesh wounds abound.

this chick i knew worked at outback. she was on lots of speed. her thumb was fucked. when i was grooming dogs i frequently nipped myself with the scissors.
anyway... i frequently locate myself directly outside of pits. getting hit has never been a problem, except for the time i lost my glasses...
so, video game based movies? house of the dead. succeeded at simultaneously being the best and worst movie ever.
