So, my mom tells me she needs part of my tuition refund for stuff around the house. That's cool; I live here, too. I tell her I need part of that money for myself, because I'm taking a trip this winter. She asks where, I tell her "New York."

Surprisingly, she doesn't flip out.

I tell her I'm going there to meet "my friend from Florida," who I've never seen in person, and she still doesn't flip out.

As a matter of fact, she's been very supportive, quickly getting over her apprehension about me flying, and even offering to help me find money for the trip if I don't get all the tuition refund money she expects me to get. Her friend offered to drive me to the airport, and my grandma's giving me a nice sum of cash for Christmas.

Maybe offering to take pictures of and buy a shirt from Rupert Jee is what made my mom so hip to this idea.

What a weird day this has been.
