So....
For some random reason, I picked up FF10 again today. Playing through it a second time, i really do think its one of the best battle systems Square's developed. Specific roles for everyone in combat, easy to see and change the flow of who's going next, and the best implimentation of the "overdrive/limit break/whatever" system they've made.
The sphere grid is also an incredibly badass way to control the growth of your characters, and i think everyone wished that we could have seen the sphere grid make a comeback in at least one more game.
Why do i feel inclined to bring this up? Because according to
several well-trusted
sources the demo of FF12 on Dragon Quest VIII isn't just a break in the grand tradition of final fantasy (something to be sad about) its a horrible one.
Of course, though, they've made this new engine...and and i doubt they want to try and redesign a new one just because fans don't like the way it plays, but hopefully they'll listen up and fix it on FF13 (like they did after FF8).
