What Goes On.

:Generic beginning for an apologetic entry, discussing matters of where I've been and why I haven't called or written. Dear nother. Etc:

:Broad example of an excuse:

I've been busy. Turk's honor. I wake up in the mornings and browse online for about 15 minutes while the coffee is brewing. I then pack a bag filled with 3-4 cameras, all with different films and such, and a digital body, and go walking around my neighborhood, or if time allows, someone else's hood, snapping away at little moments. I then go to school and process, develope, print, wash, dry, learn, study, and everything else. By mid afternoon when I leave I am able to go back out on the street and photograph more, for the following day, or go home and set up the still lives or portraits that need to be done, or redone, or relit (is that a word? Yes it is, I looked it up.) You look bored, so I'll stop.

I like this busy life. I sat around too long over the past few months. And even when I am out and about and there is nothing happening, no magic or fairy dust or alcohol or whatever else makes you creative, even when I'm out there and nothing is happening, it's still nice just being out there and doing it and waiting for it to happen.

If you read, and if you read children's literature, there is a wonderful, smart and somewhat sad book out called Al Capone Does My Shirts by a lady named Gennifer Choldenko. It comes highly recommended. Also Ishmael Reed's Flight to Canada is as lyrically gorgeous as it is socially relevant. Though this is not a child's book.

If you want to look at beautiful photographs, try finding a copy of The Americans by Robert Frank, or his book Storylines. They may be expensive, but the library is a nice well lighted place to sit around and browse through things like this. Also while you're there browse through some picture books of Joel Meyerwitz and Harry Callahan. I hope I'm not butchering these names too much.

I would recommend music, but I haven't purchased anything new in a long time. The King Khan & BBQ Show is on the record player, and before that it was Brice Springsteen's Nebraska. I would have bought Boris's Pink album, but I guess nobody in Boston is hip enough yet to be carrying that little [pink] diamond.

No pictures. Just love.

ps. When Neko Case's Fox Confessor Brings the Flood is released, you would be foolish not to purchase it.
