Have you ever been up half the night with a sick child who is throwing up?

Words of wisdom gleaned from experience - kids are never done throwing up after the first round and its silly to do a complete linen/pajama change until theyve puked up mucous for at least 2 additional rounds.

I stayed home from work last week when my son was doing it. Today its Chalkos turn. Im at work, but Im exhausted because I was up half the night. I usually curl up on the floor or the foot of the bed when they are in between trips to the toilet because it just takes too long to get down the hall when I hear that Mom-call.

One more word of caution No matter how much theyve already thrown up and how pathetic and vulnerable and adorable they may look. DO NOT (I repeat) DO NOT put them in your bed. You will not only have heaps of laundry to do, but there will be nowhere to lay your head when the child is finally at peace.

Im living on Airborne these days.

(I buy mine at Trader Joes - Best store in town!!)
Dont get me wrong. Im very balanced when it comes to nutrition and dont get crazy with the supplements. I believe in eating a good variety of fresh fruits & veggies, and in getting regular exercise. Butnow that my kids bring home so many germs from school and since I work in a hospital--I need all the help I can get. When I take the stuff, I usually skate over all the colds that my family and co-workers get with minimal symptoms.

Too tired for my run this morning. So begins the holiday/winter/cold-flu belly bulge. I will work harder on turning down desert.

Boring entry...but this is the fairy tale, my friends...this is the fairy tale!
