Ignorance is no excuse.

Its come to this

No more blind spending, for I now have no sense of how much money is in the checking account. The receipts in my wallet no longer fit in the bill-fold and spil out on the grocery counter when I try to pay.

Chalko got a new job last month and I got a raise. Weve been kinda partying ever since. Tattoo, piercing, new clothes, stereo/dvd for the truck, trip to the beach, weddings and dinners out, new clothes (oh yeah, I already said that). Ive kept a loose running tally in my head for the checking account balance. I feel like Ive now lost sense of where were at.

Im not completely financially irresponsible, just rebellious.

I grew up with a mix of Jewish and German value systems. Raised to pinch every penny until blood squeezed out. They really are wonderful wealth accumulators and I love them, but they fret so much about every little expense and I dont think they have very much fun. My Opa has alzheimers now and his fat bank roll is dusty. He should have bought that really expensive set of golf clubs and played at Pebble Beach every other weekend. He may have had to stay at the state-run hospital, but he doesnt realize hes in the Hilton of assisted living homes right nowhes bed-bound.

As in many areas of my lifeIm trying really hard not to be so ME!!

My honey is the most generous guy I know and has taught me so much about holding our possessions loosely and living in the now. I, of course, have to balance him a little with my neurotic financial disco that I do every month. Were a good team. Probably never be rich, but I always want to be ready with an appropriate outfit for any occasion.

Thank goodness for overdraft protection.
