EDIT: the theme song for my blog, cause...you just gotta

So all of my blogs have been about many things since my return from Florida and arrival into New Jersey
and I touched on a topic very briefly...
When I was in Philadelphia the night of my arrival, I was at the children's hospital. It really was an odd night, to return home, frigid weather and then have to spend my evening seeing these children.
My mother's fiance's sister delivered her son on Christmas...he was there because he was not digesting food correctly and there was blood in his stool and they wanted to keep and observe him because he took in a lot of meconium while in the womb since the one nurse didn't believe that she was in labor. that was the reason we were there.
Upon our arrival, things were pretty normal, he was very healthy and tiny, they were just observing him at this point because he wasnt eating much and it was just up to his appetite for when he could return home. While he was being kept at the hospital, she was given a place at the Ronald McDonald house, which I've heard of in passing before, because she lives about an hour away from the hospital. My mom wanted to see the place and I was kinda stuck going with her. So, we all went...it was really really neat. They had a huge play area for children, another area for teens with video games and the such. They provided free meals for the families that were staying there and I thought it was just a wonderful idea.
I know that when I am making more money, I would like to donate to their foundation so that I can help keep them open and able to provide a place for families who are suffering through enough emotional crisis, and keep them close to their children.
So, I was kind of whatever about the place, I looked all around and really thought it was a magnificent idea. I chased Ringo around as he played with every toy he could touch, read him a book and then he went back to his trains. As the evening moved along, a few children came to play with him. The first were two brothers, who were with their parents, of course. The one boy was probably not even 2 and had a feeding tube, which made me kind of sad but he was so full of life and spunk...too bad his mother was completely insane with what he could and could not do... of course, she is probably so stressed by his illness...
Later, a little girl came to play...Her father was sitting behind me and we were back to back. She had a full head of these golden curls and was so pretty. She had something with her eye and was unable to use or open it. I hope that one day, they will be able to provide a surgery that will help her. She was so adorable and she had on these little boots that squeaked when she walked. I want a pair
.
What I also found lovely was that as these children came and played with my son, he didn't laugh at them, he didn't judge them, he just had fun...I wish that people, as we grow, we didn't learn to judge people by their appearances, we just sat down and were just humans...not care what someone looks like. Seeing that kind of hits me hard, since I am constantly judged by my appearance...by tattoos and piercings, which unlike these children, I chose to do myself.
My heart really goes out to those children and their families...To that wonderful hospital that does so much. The baby I was visiting, his room was right by the desk and we could hear the doctors and nurses talking about one baby that was basically just going to die, and they couldn't get that through to their parents because they didn't speak english. I just really wish I could be more of a help to them.
I also guess this is why i'm so drawn to the medical field. i don't like seeing people suffer.
