Prevalent media themes I have been noticing lately:
Comic culture of the hipster variety (versus the nerdy variety). Eamplex: Last Sunday's Simpsons.
Same sex sex and I'm not talking about homosexuality. What I have noticed is purely sexual without reference to love or emotions. No one's coming out of the closet, it's not about that. Examples: 1.That Dolce and Gabana (I think?) perfume (or something) commericial where there are two same sex kisses at the end (a pair of guys and a pair of girls). 2.I got that visual bookshelf app and I noticed a few of my friends are reading "the Straight Girls Guide to Getting with Chicks." 3.John Travolta kiss, although he is openly gay. 4.Same sex kisses are all over Perez Hilton, U.S. Weekly, etc. 4. Janice Dickenson's bisexual whatever you call it as noted by Perez Hilton. 5. My friend Leah dumped her long time boyfriend because she wanted to have sex with girls. Apparently she really likes boobies. They tried working things out so that she could sleep with girls but no other guys but he couldn't take the pressure. Then, her girlfriend broke up with her because she thought Leah just wanted to have sex with her and she didn't see it going anywhere. Hahahahahha.
Increased prevelance of animation in the media.
A new study says young people are reading significantly less. This troubles many old school intellectuals but I feel like there must be a ballance somewhere that hasn't yet been defined. Maybe young people are reading less but watching more.
