Update:
Wan't to hear something hilarious? The Thai woman I was to move in with yesterday decided, apparently aftera phonecall to her friend who is married to a German, that Germans drink to much beer, and that wouldn't be good for the kid, and therefore I couldn't move in! Graciously they informed me of this decision yesterday afternoon, a couple of hours beforeI was supposed to move there.
Crashing with a friend now, looking for a flat with the other two mentioned below. smile I'm loving this!
____

So my plan to convince the proprietor to have his friends wife move into the appartment of a friend and have the friend and a friend of the friend move in with me failed miserably but....
... I met my flatmates for the next 4 months today! A nice Thai lady amnd a very lifely 3 year old kid, that should be fun, too!!!!

Anyway... I've had this song stuck in my head all day:

1. Maria durch ein' Dornwald ging.
Kyrieleison !
Maria durch ein' Dornwald ging,
der hatte in sieben Jahrn kein Laub getragen!
Jesus und Maria.

2. Was trug Maria unter ihrem Herzen?
Kyrieleison !
Ein kleines Kindlein ohne Schmerzen,
das trug Maria unter ihrem Herzen!
Jesus und Maria.

3. Da hab'n die Dornen Rosen getragen.
Kyrieleison !
Als das Kindlein durch den Wald getragen,
da haben die Dornen Rosen getragen!
Jesus und Maria.

It's a catholic christmas carroll. Very catholic, as in, as far from Jingle Bells as it get's. This is dripping with symbolism. Basically Marie is walking through a forrest of thorns (carrying a child "without pain") that hasn't grown a leaf in seven years and as she walks through it it suddenly carried roses.

As a little kid I used to be very intimidated by this song. The threatening thorns, the untouched virgin (without pain!!) in it's middle, and then suddenly it carried roses. Which obviously can be read as Maries blood. (this is how I felt this song as a kid).
So is Marie protecting the unborn child against pain with her very body?
Catholicism is my favorite religion by far. It doesn't get any more twisted.

Anyway...

The ducks, in the pond in Central Park? Where do they go in Winter, when the pond is all frozen over?
Yes, I finally read the Catcher in the Rye. I know, it's the kind of book you're supposed to read when you're a teen and at war with the world, but yeah I enjoyed it tremendously neithertheless. Truely masterfull. The German equivalent for Teenage Angst are the works by Hermann Hesse, but Hesse is insufferably pretentious at times. That's completely absent in this book! I liked it!
Another thing of interesst is to see there is how the language evolved in the last decades. How some words changed in meaning slightly ("sexy") or fell out of use.

Next: Vernon God Little

So much for the moment, your homework: Smile at yourself in the mirror!
