This year marked my first serious foray into Metal: I went to Wacken.
Being otherwise not very familiar with the Music I tagged along with a few friends and joined a group going there most of whom I didn't know beforehand but all of whom turned out to be amazing.

Despite the swamp, the camping being miles of the festival area (due to the swamp) and the fact that it was overcrowded, a marvelous time was had by all, mostly due to three factors: Meat, Mead and Metal.

Also: The people were brilliant. Never been to a festival with a more relaxed more welcoming atmosphere.

For added adventure I managed to leave the tickets for me and two friends in England so we had to camp out in the ticket office the first night.
