In Germany we complain that the government is bureaucratic. As everybody who has been to England knows, that is completely backwards. We should be singing jubilations that only the government is bureaucratic!
In England, not only do you need several different forms of references simply to rent a room (including a so called character reference from a friend), no, my moving to my new place was delayed because one of the references I submitted (the University, which is my employer) was addressed to my bank instead of the letting agency! Oh the inanity.

So they gave loads of weapons to a guy in the Middle East to counter Iranian influence. That guy used those weapons on an oil rich country eventually so they went in and destabilized him, a decade later went in and toppled his statue which led to a bloody civil war they are now stuck in and which allows the Iranian regime to spread its influence so they have to give loads of weapons to another guy to counter Iranian influence....
