<boring personal life update>

And that was France.

Ladies and Gentlemen, apologies for not updating regularly with interessting and mindblowing insights. I was rather occupied the last half year or so. By many things in more then one way. Most prominently my Diplomathesis which I finally handed in yesterday (therefore I ask your forgiveness for the lack of narrative today, my mind is well cloged). Also with travelling, including my first real trip to North America, where I got invited to a spectacular research institute in a less then spectacular city, and a short stay in Bologna which sucks for physics but has to be one of the most marvellous places I have had the pleasure to walk. Go there if you can.

And thus ends a rollercoaster year in Marseille, full of frustrations, some spectacular moments, some fantastic people (*waves*) nice music and which, eventually, resulted in me having a Diplomathesis and a PhD position in Nottingham.

The last weeks were very nice, our garden in Marseille was well frequented during the last weeks, with some excellent parties and finally a wonderfull last dinner (pictures of which might be forthcoming).

Perhaps the most spectacular evening of my entire stay had been reserved for the second to last evening in Marseille. An Italian friend of mine returned to Marseille and took us by car out into the Calanques, the stunning coastline of the Mediterranean Sea ridden with little natural harbors and steep cliffs.
After an hour long night walk through magnificent little canyons and rock formations, we arrived at en Vau:

It was just us, in the middle of the night, a single beam from a tiny guide light at the entrance of en Vau cast a silver beam of light down the ripples in the water. While swimming down this fjord the water would be transformmed into a sparkling sea of light around you. It was magical.

Now with France behind me I am about to return to the island, Nottingham it is (and the first to mention Robin Hood is going to find themselve shot by an arrow fired by yours truely.)
This time it's for a couple of years in the same place, scarily stable.

In the meantime I am in Munich once more. It is the strangest experience, for the first time I return here already knowing where I'll be going next.
qob:
wow, the year has gone fast, it feels like it was just while ago when you moved to France.

The pictures are beuatiful, stunning place!

It really sounds scarily stable, two years in one place. I got now one month left in SA and I really would not like to leave the country but I guess I have to finish my studies, go to brothers wedding and earn money.blah. But it is kinda exciting that I have no idea where I am going in January, definately not staying in Finland. Maybe returning here, I hope!

Congrats for finishing your thesis, that must feel good. I have just started that work load.

Was machst Du denn jetzt in demnchst in England?

miao!!
