In our garden stands a big and beautifull tree. It acts basically as a roof over much of the area. It shields what would otherwise be an anonymous inner city concrete backyard and turns it into a sort of a garden, a space that belongs to us, shielded from the high rises that surround it.
Today the landlady had it cut to the trunk, without any reason at all.
I really had started to like that tree, I had spend some warm autumn evenings gazing through it's leaves into the clear Marseille sky.
This makes me sad.
