man, where to start...
um, hi my name is trent and i'm an alcoholic... wait no, that's not where to start at all...
let's start with hawaii i suppose. great place... had a great time... wouldn't want to live there if you paid me. yes, i know you're all thinking, "what is he fucking crazy?! it's hawaii?!"
i've already heard this from my step family about a hundred times... they would have all loved it there because they are from a tiny town where nothing ever happens and being bored is second nature. that was the big problem... the island of kauai was like going to a warm tropical climate version of my hometown, except for the fact that in my hometown you could drive an hour and get to a city... on kauai there are no major cities and no major anything just a bunch of warm tropical versions of my boring hometown strung together by one major road. i'm used to living in cities.. maybe not the biggest of cities, but i need to be busy. i need things to do. i can't spend the rest of my life laying on a beach... beaches are not my thing (although i will admit i enjoyed going on the weekends and playing in the ocean and getting knocked down by waves). that's fun.
i need variety... and dammit i love movies and i need to be able to go to a theatre and see a movie when i feel like it without having to plan an outting to drive a half hour to get to the damn theatre.
i am from the "Now!" generation... i need instant gratification... i can't sit and do nothing. if i'm not doing something i feel like i'm not accomplishing anything and then i get bored... VERY quickly. i don't like vacations or "down" time. it's a waste when i could be doing something... even if it's just reading a book for a few hours at least i'm doing something and broadening my mind.
i couldn't get that where i was... so now i'm back. (plus, i ran out of cash
).
so that's the condensed version of why i have made the return to the mainland and the east coast. i had to go and see, but i never said i had to stay no matter what.
so what's been going on with everyone in SGland? i've been outta the loop for quite a good amount of time... everyone needs to give me the condensed version of what they've been up to.
hopefully i'll be able to see some of you soon... just give me a little while to get my cash flow back up to normal substandards and i'll be on my way.
breakfast byte: a section of the island of kauai was used in the movie Hook as Never-Never Land. they digitally removed the land around one of the larger oceanside cliffs and digitally inserted more ocean. ah, the interesting things you learn when you eavesdrop on a group of tourists who paid someone a lot of money to show them around and point out shit like that.

The "now" generation needs more batteries.
